For our summer meeting we were joined by Sarah Gledson of Made by Jack’s Mum. Sarah took us through her story, from trying to clothe her son in a remote Australian town, to running her own successful business making and designing clothes and patterns. We were all given a basic T shirt pattern and Sarah showed us a variety of ways to customise it. Armed with tracing paper and a pencil we learned how to lengthen or shorten, colour block and alter the sleeves. An ordinary T shirt became special when we added waterfall sleeves. We ended the evening in teams where we raced to put together a digital pattern which the fastest team won. The lucky raffle winner also took home one of Sarah’s patterns. A follow up craft session is being planned so we can put these new skills to use.
