June 2016: Hand-tied Posies

In June we welcomed Jo Banks from Jo Banks Flowers/Harrogate Garden and Flower School for a workshop on hand-tied posies. Jo spoke passionately about the importance of using (and buying) British-grown cut flowers and trying to use seasonal flowers in your flower arrangements at home. After some tips on the best way to prepare and care for cut flowers, Jo talked us through all the stunning flowers and foliage she had brought from her garden for us to use later in the evening. Although many looked familiar, it was great to learn the proper names and how best they could be combined in a striking arrangement. Now it was the turn of the Spa Sweethearts to have a go. Armed with our jam jars and tins, scissors, ribbon and lots of flowers, we set off making out hand-tied posies…and there were some gorgeous results by the end of the evening.
