Sam moved to Harrogate from her native North East in 2011. Though she fell in love with Harrogate from the moment she arrived, she quickly found herself missing her previous social life and support network. She joined SSWI in January 2013 immediatly knowing that she had come to the right place and had found the missing puzzle piece to her new home and life. Sam has a career in IT, and is passionate about helping to overcome any anxiety about using technology. She is also an advocate for encouraging women to learn and work in IT as despite national conversations and media coverage about gender diversity in tech, women are still underrepresented, underpaid, and often discriminated against in the tech industry. Sam is our treasurer, looking after our finances month to month and arranging the independent examination of our accounts each year. She is also very active in the Spa Social scene, she enjoys organising and attending trips and events (especially music and theatre) and is always especially keen to meet and support other newcomers to Harrogate to pass on all the best spots, secret gems and other local finds.
