Spa Sweethearts April Blog – Making paper flowers with Sarah
How lovely was it to see Sarah back for a return visit from Ringo the Crafty Flamingo for
another crafting session? Paper flowers were on the agenda, adding to our growing
repertoire of crafting skills. Just before the crafting started we welcomed Heather, the
visiting chair of North Yorkshire West Federation WI, here to present us with the Ella Pullen
award in recognition of our membership numbers in 2023. She was so impressed and
complimentary about the friendly atmosphere she could see and feel in the room. Sarah
began by giving us a quick guide to making several types of flowers as well as providing
comprehensive instructions on each table. She offered a wide range of resources in a vast
array of colours and patterns including paper, ribbons, wool, wreath rings and much more.
An evening full of laughter, friendly chat and socialising whilst being creative. There was a
fantastic selection of classy flowers, collages and wreath designs created, with the ladies
gaining a feeling of accomplishment. Altogether a blooming good night, ladies! Everyone
had a chance to enjoy refreshments of tea, coffee, chocolate biscuits or a tasty slice of
tangy lemon drizzle cake, homemade by Shirley. At our May meeting we are looking forward
to hosting the fair trade organisation, Artizan Café and Creative Space in Harrogate who are
coming to talk to us. All members and guests are welcome to join us for an interesting
evening. Not to be missed!
