Thursday 15th September 2011 saw 32 ladies meet at Harrogate Conservative Club on East Parade with the intention of setting up a new WI in the Harrogate area.
Carol Ambler and Pat Dunnill, WI advisers from the North Yorks West federation told the assembled audience information on the WI, and asked who would like to start a WI. All were in favour.
We then took a vote on the name suggestions, of which there were many, and Spa Sweethearts was the clear winner.
A committee was formed consisting of nine ladies, and the officer roles were assigned.
Spa Sweethearts WI is the 100th group in the North Yorks West federation, and everyone is looking forward to the opportunity to meet new people, develop their knowledge and learn new skills.
